A: Sizing & Measuring | back to top | Close Window
Use the sizing charts below for use as a
reference for your size.
For
the most part the sizing is pretty accurate, if the subject is an XL than expect
to be an XL in our shirts as well. However it is always best not to assume,
especially when dealing with a custom made shirt. Take careful measurements
and match careful to the chart as per the directions below.
Important: When matching measurements to the chart, ALWAYS take the next size higher if unsure or if in between sizes
as the style of these shirts are to fit a little loose.
More importantly, alteration can always take a shirt in, but never add size!

Taking Measurement
Shoulders
The best way to measure the shoulders is
directly on the subject, help will be required to do this. From the back, and
standing up straight, measure the distance directly across from shoulder to
shoulder. While measuring make sure to go (from and to) the outer most extreme
part of the shoulders.
Important:
The shoulder measurement is used as the point of
reference for your letter size on the chart. After measuring shoulders as
described above,
match the measurement
to the shoulder measurement on the chart. (Again, If your measurement falls in
between sizes, always choose the next size up rather than down). Once the
lettered size is acquired, and for the remainder of this document, this is
herein referred to as the subjects' "Charted Letter Size".
Sleeve Length
Measure subject's arm length from the top outer-top edge of your
shoulder to the bottom of wrist-top of hand.
If ordering French
cuff sleeves, the cuffs should be folded in (as when worn) when measuring.
If subject is un-proportional meaning either very tall and thin or very short and heavy, charted letter size sleeve length may be incorrect and will need to be compensated. In this case please specify the correct size (in inches) in the "J|Comments" box. For example if charted letter size sleeve length specifies 26" yet the actual measurement taken is 24", simply specify in the J|Comments "Sleeve Length = 24 In".
Shirt Height
Height is measured from the middle of the collar (just below chin) to where you
would like your shirt to drape. Standard drape is usually to the middle or 3/4
of the way down your zipper line.
If subject is un-proportional meaning either very tall and thin or very short and heavy, charted letter size shirt height may be incorrect and will need to be compensated. In this case please specify the correct size (in inches) in the "J|Comments" box. For example if charted letter size shirt height specifies 31" yet the actual measurement taken is 33", simply specify in the J|Comments "Shirt Height =33 In". In addition, if subject has an abnormally large belly, chest, or extra thick shoulders, this should also be compensated for as it will ultimately effect the drape length.
Chest Measurement
The chest measurement is for reference only. These custom shirts are
meant to fit loose and relaxed and are fitted accordingly in the chest area per
the size. The chest size is oversized per the style of the shirt. To measure use
the stretched shirt on the floor method, measure straight across just under the
armpit of the shirt. Once a figure in Inches is determined, double the number.
This is your shirt chest size. It is also ok to measure directly on the subject
completely around the chest just under the arm-pits.

Selecting Colors

Fabric Colors:
Select a fabric color from the drop-down list. Choose one of the following
fabric 12 colors; white, ivory, khaki, light blue, sage green,
navy, chocolate, red, and black. We always recommend to stick with "LIKE"
fabrics between your different shirts as color shades will vary from fabric to
fabric because the textures of the fabrics are different. For instance, light
blue in Linen will be significantly different from light blue in Cotton.
If you need a better idea of the fabric colors, please see the other options
listed just below. Please take note these options will add time onto the process
respectively (over the standard 4-6 weeks) for mailing time, research, etc.
Embroidery:
Using our
Color Swatch Library, select a color for your embroidery that matches, again
observing our color match information explained above.
Each
color swatch in the library has a number associated, type that number into the
respective text box labeled “D|Emb Color”.
Important:
If you need a perfect shirt embroidery color
matching, we strongly recommend you purchase the Madeira book. Colors viewed
online will vary in shades due to monitors and computers, whereas the book contains actual thread that is used
by the manufacturer for the embroidery. If you use the online swatch matching
system, you do so at your own risk! We cannot be responsible for mismatched
shades as a result of using this method.

To order the book
Note: if you just want a
standard color and are not concerned with a particular color, just type
the standard color into the box, i.e. "blue" and we will use our standard colors
table.
